  • 01/08/24 - In The Outer Ruins:
    • Added opening graphic.
    • Increased bonus XP from fighting Zombie to 75 from 50.
    • Increased bonus XP for fighting Skeleton Lord to 75 from 25.
    • Increased bonus XP for fighting Skeleton Master to 200 from 100.
    • Increased bonus XP for fighting Fiends to 125, from 100.
    • Increased bonus XP for fighting Wraiths to 75 from 50.
    • Increased bonus XP for fight Wraith Lords to 200 from 100.
    • Decreased amount of gold Poltergeist steals from you to 25 to 50, from 75 to 100.
    • Decreased amount of damage from being poisoned to 2 to 5 HP, from 6 to 9.
    • Reduced cost to bribe a fiend to 200 from 400.
    • Reduced cost to bribe an uber-fiend to 500 from 1600.
    • Made Fiends and Uber-Fiends drain your XP, instead of your skills.
    • Increased XP bonus for Altar, Gravestone and Basket to 25 to 50 from 10 to 20.
    • Increased XP bonus for Runes to 25 to 100 from 25 to 50.
    • Increased Gold bonus for Gravestone to 1 to 20 from 1 to 10. And removed some "nothing happens" results as well.
    • Added 3 more powers that the Altar might give you.
    • Gems affect thieves now.
  • 01/01/24 - In The Outer Ruins:
    • Moved powers and items to a sidebar.
    • Made rows light up when numbers in them change.

  • 07/15/16 - in The Forgotten Forest: Fixed a bug so that it doesn't say 0% chance to be irritated or bored.
  • 06/07/16 - In The Lost City:
    • Added new power: circumspect. It helps you find things when you would have found nothing.
    • City food reward increased to 2 to 4 from 1 to 3.
    • Added mystic aura to specials box, and made that box light up when anything in it changes.
  • 06/01/16 - In The Lost City:
    • Added highlight box around a location if it is the current quest.
    • Re-arranged main game box.
    • Added pop out boxes to the right of the main display, which show specials and quest info.
  • 01/10/16 - Added the Magic Portal , which is a prestige item for long term players to build on the hero roster, and it reduces the cost of all basic and advanced games by 1/2.

  • 12/22/15 - In The Forgotten Forest:
    • 3 in a row matches for many spaces in the forest.
    • 3 new powers!
    • Hermit only gives 6 of 7 items per game, to give variety and replayability overall.
    • 10 new verbs for poems and sayings.
    • The stats boxes light up and dim as your stats change, like the other games.
    • Out of turns box floats left now.
    • Re-formatted it to fit on iphone screens better.
  • 11/23/15 - Added opening and closing images to The Ancient Catacombs.
  • 11/17/15 - In The Forgotten Forest:
    • The Hermit now shows you a way out of the cave if he does nothing else for you.
    • New side text box for poems, sayings and Hermit reward.
    • Added bonus turns for making a poem or saying.
    • Poem and saying chance doesn't go over 100% now.
    • Showing more detail about trying to make a poem or saying.
  • 11/13/15 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • When you try and open a door, or jump a chasm, it now shows your chance of doing it.
    • Doubled the rate at which heroes get bored talking to you.
    • Added a 'savings throw' against your charisma to re-engage a person who would have gotten bored of you otherwise.
    • The chance of a hero teaching you something if they can is boosted by your charisma.
    • Decreased the size of xp bonus per point the hero is ahead of you, but increased the difference range. This means that they need to be 5 times as high ahead of you to give you the same stat boost, and that it comes down in value in smaller, 10 pt, chunks.
    • Bonus turns for gaining a stat are now 3, but it doesn't use up a turn to boost a stat.
    • Fixed a few layout and control bugs.
  • 11/09/15 - In The Sulphur Mines:
    • Total supplies recovered from all wins now recorded.
    • Disabled buttons instead of hr blocks for actions you can't currently do.
  • 11/05/15 - In The Ancient Catacombs:
    • Redid main layout to add floating boxes for items and kings defeated.
    • Reformatted combat screens for clarity.
    • Fixed bug where demons could drain you to negative energy.
  • 11/02/15 - In The Sandy Wastes:
    • Added showing current powers when at an encounter where you can get powers.
    • Swapped the numbers for trading salt with the traders, so salt is more valuable than water now.
    • Added disabled buttons for actions not avaible.
    • Fixed typos.
  • 10/26/15 - Updated all 11 icons for stage 3 of the game, The Alien Journey.

    • Even more back button error code.
    • Help text about gaining skill points shown the first time you get some.
    • Reduced bonus turns from gaining a skill point from xp to 3 instead of 4.

    • Disabled buttons added for when you can't do an action, so the interface looks better and is more stable.
    • Made the winning roll in an encounter visually larger, so it is easier to scan for.

  • 09/21/15 - In The Ancient Catacombs:
    • New Item: Bloodstone.
    • Added auto-defeating monsters which you could have fought without losing, to speed up the game some.
    • Stone altar can give you items from 20 levels lower now.
    • Runic shield breaks 5% less often.
    • Increased xp bonus for defeating monsters with special abilities by 0 to 50, depending on the power.
    • Increased the impact monsters flee amount has on danger adjustment. It was every 15% was -1, now it's every 10% is -1.
    • On recent players listing, catacombs players now show which monsters they are fighting.
    • Added disabled buttons on main screen for actions you can't currently perform.
    • Adjusted help text to match current stat names.

  • 07/30/15 - Reduced the maximum bets allowed in the saloon, based on how many buildings you have built. Now, the more you have built, the more you can bet.
  • 07/27/15 - In The Sandy Wastes:
    • Made it responsive for playing on mobile devices.
    • Added stats boxes to giant lizard, bleached bones, oasis, mystic, lake, bunker, shrine, traders and sandstorm encounters.
    • Added 'You have a feeling...' to alert you to upcoming fixed encounters.
    • Now you can't accidentally miss fixed encounters when you lose turns from digging in at the sandstorm, or running away from the giant lizard.
    • Removed losing people at the sandstorm.
    • Shows what you will lose if you run or dig in at the sandstorm.
    • Halved the number of turns lost to digging-in at the sandstorm.
    • Increased tranquility bonus to 100, from 75, when relaxing at the oasis.

    • Now the stats rows light up if they have been changed on a turn.
    • Added a message about finding a back-up battery if you already have one. You get some energy, but not a second back-up battery.

  • 06/25/15 - In The Well:
    • New Encounter: Glowing altar.
    • Added 3 new powers: Alert, Observant and Shining Aura.
    • The Amulet of Willpower now stops you from running from fearsome enemies.
    • Monster bonus powers don't appear til after level 10 of the Well now.
  • 06/21/15 - In The Great Desert:
    • Added stats box to sandstorm, and text saying what each choice does.
    • Reduced the amount of stuff you might lose from the sandstorm to 1/3 of your total stuff, down from 1/2.
    • Changed the amount of junk needed to build shelters at the sandstorm, a little less of your total junk and a little more of your total food.
    • Removed losing people from the sandstorm.
    • Made it so that if you lose turns to an encounter (like digging in for the sandstorm), it doesn't skip over special fixed encounters.
    • Added Burial Ground encounter.
  • 06/15/15 - In The Great Desert:
    • Added 'you have a feeling' to warn you of upcoming special encounters.
    • Increased the tranquility reward at the Oasis, the Ruins and the Bleached Bones.
    • Added new mini-stats box to some encounter screens, to help you make more informed choices.
    • Now shows % chance to teach the traders.
    • Added Analyze Game State link, and included food per turn in the analysis.
  • 06/10/15 - In The Great Desert:
    • Added opening and closing pictures.
  • 06/08/15 - In The Celestial Tower:
    • Made the main screen resposive for mobile.
    • When you can't pay the requirements for a level, the things you can't pay for are shown in red, to alert you so you don't have to refer to the inventory list as much.

    • Added light up stat changes on main screen.
  • 05/29/15 - In The Well:
    • Tripled xp from the Crown of Kowledge.
    • Ring of Regeneration renamed to Ring of Vitality, and protects you from curses and imps as well now.
    • Added 600 gold bonus for reaching the bottom of The Well.
    • Increased gold found with bracelet of light to 1/2 normal finds instead of 1/3.
    • Put special encounter check before monster check, so things like altars, basins, treasure chambers, and so forth, show up much more often.
  • 05/26/15 - In The Well:
    • Reduced the base amount of gold sulfurous enemies destroy, by more than half.
    • Streamlined combat results to make them responsive design for mobile.
    • Made combat results roll result larger for the winner, to highlight it.
  • 05/24/15 - In The Well:
    • Removed the goals from the main screen and put in a link to show them.
    • The people that show up to sell you stuff have been given a new floating box to the right, as well as pictures of each person.
    • Streamlined some text at end of game.
    • Added whitespace to combat results page.
  • 05/23/15 - Reformatted the hero roster to make it work with responsive design for mobile phones. Along the way, streamlined the turns clock!

  • 10/13/14 - In The Well:
    • The Wall Crack encounter has been re-designed, to be much more useful and obvious what the choices are.
    • The murky pool choices have changed dramatically, as well as the description.
    • The murky pool has been made into a randomly occuring encounter, instead of a fixed one.
    • Added floating item list to main display.
    • Changed the monster and treasure percentages to round down to the nearest 5%, to make it easier to understand what is happening with them.
    • Fixed some minor bugs in exploring.
  • 10/11/14 - In The Well:
    • Removed the upper limit on getting xp from the scroll in the nest, and increased the amount of experience awarded by 150.
    • Increased the amount of coins found in the nest, and made it a constant, instead of by level.
    • Added an experience bonus if you wish at the fountain and nothing else happens.
    • Added a few more options to get as a result of a wish at the fountain.
    • "Greyed-out" options at the fountain if they aren't helpful.
    • Bribing a monster will now skip all special abilities it has, except for fearsome.
    • Imp choices now show consequences.
    • Ignoring the imp now sends you up 3 to 5 levels instead of 4 to 7.
    • The imp now demands half as much gold as previously.
    • Blessing now protects you from being cursed.
    • Made Treasure Chambers and Coffins findable from going down a level, instead of only when exploring a level.
    • Increased the bonus experience you get for fighting monsters with special abilites by at least double.
    • Changed the cost to train up your stats with the champion to 150, instead of 400.
    • Changed the cost of buying items from the magician to 250, instead of 500.
    • Added a closing picture.
  • 10/03/14 - In The Subterranean Realms:
    • Increased the font size in the main text area, and increased the size of the main text area.
    • Replaced finding 'moments of peace' with finding gems.
    • Removed '*'s from monster names.
    • Changed 'drive off' to 'defeat'.
    • Changed combat experience to 3 stats: prowess, toughness and stamina.
    • Reduced the items needed when exploring the Caves to 1 rope instead of 1 torch and 1 rope.
    • Reduced the items needed when exploring the Lower Caves to 1 torch and 1 rope instead of 1 torch and 2 rope.
    • Replaced finding 'nothing' in the sewers with finding torches, rope and keys.
    • Now, when a monster resists your attack, you get +.5 prowess, for trying.
    • Changed the Rat Lord in the Rats Nest to a Giant Rat, and made it take no herbs to fight, but more energy.



  • 10/28/11 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Added a new planet encounter, the storm in the wilderness.
    • Added a new city encounter, a shady person.
    • Added Mining Lasers, as well as two new secret mystery items.
    • Now, in relevant encounters it shows how much stuff you have, so you can better determine a course of action.
    • Now, there is a limit of 7 shrines per planet, down from 12. Also, shrines give you double their previous reward for building them.
    • Added a small virtue reward for talking to people but failing to convince them of anything.
    • Widened the main display, adjusted some encounter chances, and fixed a few typos.
  • 09/22/11 - The Celestial Tower got its main screen reformatted to be more compact and concise.
  • 08/17/11 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Once you meet a prophet, he adds clues to the location of the next prophet onto the map.
    • Once you have met the Sixth Prophet, he gives clues to find him again.
    • Added 'return to the prophet' text into the tasks area when you have finished a task, to make it explicit that it is time to go back and get your reward from the prophets.
  • 07/27/11 - In The Well:
    • Added pictures for five non-monster encounters.
    • Fixed it so relentless monsters stop chasing you if you run and drop to 1 health.
    • Re-arranged the encounter screen to be clearer, and added hover text for monster special abilities.
    • Changed the monster ability 'shrouded in mist' to 'sulfurous' to be shorter and clearer.
    • The altar now shows up randomly, like the treasure chamber, instead of appearing at fixed levels each game.
    • Now when you boost a skill, you get a turn.
  • 07/20/11 - Finally got a replacement for my local server! Now I can edit the pages easily again. In honor of that, I fixed a few typos.

  • 12/07/10 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: While adjusting the formatting for the encounters to make them easier to read, also decided to add a line of text which tells you what your % chance to succeed at an encounter is.
  • 10/06/10 - In The Sandy Wastes:
    • Added visual warning system for when you are going to run out of supplies in a few turns, are over carrying capacity, or don't have enough people to bring all your sleds when you move.
    • Ant power now lets you send 25 questers at a time, instead of the former tedious 5.
    • Now, you build as many sleds at a time as you have junk and labor for, instead of just one per click.
    • Shelters cost less junk to build the longer you have been camped.
    • When you have no, or very few people, it is much easier to find new people when wandering.
    • Fixed a bug where the wandering lizard would show up sometimes right as you broke camp.
  • 08/04/10 - In The Journey to New Earth: Reduced the number of turns lost to guards and pirates sometimes, and removed the limit of 15 fuel a turn when trading supplies at the mines. Also reduced the overall chance of the planetary patrol showing up. Also fixed a bug and added a mini-event when visiting the mines.
  • 06/30/10 - In The Outer Ruins: Reduced the amount of gold a thief in the bunker steals to a maximum of 50, down from 100, and now when you open a basket when you are fully healed, you can gain a little experience.
  • 05/10/10 - In The Ancient Catacombs: Increased starting artifice by 2, made danger level not go above 100%, and fixed 2 typos.
  • 05/10/10 - In The Well: Relentless monsters stop attacking you once you are down to 1 health.
  • 05/07/10 - In The Well:
    • Added 2 new special encounters: The crack in the wall and the enchanted jewels, found on the earlier levels to speed up the game and add variety.
    • Added 'weak' monster modifiers for the early levels, like 'flimsy' or 'clumsy'.
    • The imp has a picture, and also demands 100 gold less.
    • Reduced health bonus from the potion of vitality and the elixir of skill, to 3 each from 5.
    • Took out the hermit encounter, and added some item description text to recieving special items from some encounters.
  • 04/29/10 - In The Well:
    • Added 3 new special encounters: The stone basin, slitherwyrm nests, and spear traps, found on the earlier levels to speed it up and add variety.
    • The Ring of Regeneration now works after encounters, and also gives you immunity to some monster powers.
    • Now, items have a level below which they don't normally appear on.
    • You can no longer gain health from training.
    • The etheral cloak now gives you a boost of 5 health, instead of 10.
  • 02/07/10 - In The Great Desert: Added pictures for the encounters.
  • 01/31/10 - In The Well: Added advanced monster powers, which are given to about 1 in 10 monsters you find, to add variety into the encounters. Also added a new thing you can find: an old sarcophagus. Because of these changes, the high scores were also reset.
  • 01/29/10 - In The Subterranean Realms: You don't take an extra turn fighting monsters you could automatically defeat.

  • 12/28/09 - In The Subterranean Realms:
    • "Monsters defeated" changed to "Combat experience". Now, when you defeat a monster, you get more combat experience the harder the monster was to defeat.
    • Now it only takes ten explorations of a level to explore it completely, down from the former 16.
    • When you visit the city, you always rest to your full health immediately. Also, you can't find 'a moment of peace' there, since it gives you extra energy and that is redundant now. Instead you find an Herb.
  • 12/01/09 - In The Lost City: Now it shows how many turns are left for you to try and finish a quest in.
  • 11/23/09 - Increased the number of starting turns for each hero to 32, up from 20, in order to give players a play-time boost at the beginning of a game.
  • 11/23/09 - Doubled the chance of winning a free unlimited turns hero in each game when it is started with credits.
  • 09/16/09 - Added free trial games. They let you try a game without spending credits, to see if you like playing it. Games with free trials are: The Great Desert, The Lost City, Western Dunes, Ancient Catacombs, Outer Ruins, Subterranean Realms.
  • 09/09/09 - In The Western Dunes:
    • Now there is only 1 omen per turn, to give more focus to the omens.
    • Doubled the length of a generation, to give more time for building up your tribe and stores.
    • Increased the minimum food found per search, to make your tribe more stable.
    • Reduced the cost of the game from 5 credits to 4.
    • Changed the name of phases to years.
    • Doubled food needed to establish a settlement.
    • Removed 'you find nothing' from scavenge results, and replaced with finding extra junk.
  • 09/04/09 - Reformatted the Game Stats screen to be easier to read, and put some of the data into text that is only displayed when you hover over a number.
  • 09/01/09 - Now, when you use PayPal to buy credits, the credits are automatically added to your account.
  • 08/30/09 - The Food Cellar now won't give out turns to heroes above what they need to finish the game, in games with a fixed number of turns.
  • 08/11/09 - In The Outer Ruins:
    • New buyable item: viper mask.
    • Now, when you defeat an enemy and would have gotten a skill point before, you get boosted in the stat you used in the fight instead.
    • New temple space: potion.
    • New maze space: cabinet.
    • Increased the chance of finding gems in the maze. From 33% to 50%.
    • Now you can find the glowing beetle in the chests in the catacombs.
    • Bunker: halved chance of finding the med-kit, and added a rare chest with good stuff in it.
    • Catacombs chests now always give gold and sometimes an item, instead of either an item or gold.
    • Reduced the chance of finding open space in the tower by 50%.
    • Altered hollow horn to always get good things, as well as 1 enemy champion if possible.
    • Increased the chance the herbs and medkit cure flesh rotting disease, to 30% and 60%.
    • Increased the chance that the altar breaks the curse, to 35%, and added a new way to break the curse.
    • Invisibility now works on thieves.
    • Redrawn: falling bricks, uber-fiend, fiend, tower map space.
    • Left-aligned encounter results screen.
  • 07/27/09 - In The Outer Ruins: reformatted and added whitespace to the main screen, to make it easier to read and more clear. Also made the item lists easier to read by adding columns to them.
  • 07/24/09 - In The Sandy Wastes: reformatted and added whitespace to the main screen and encounter screens, to make it easier to read and more clear.
  • 07/22/09 - In The Western Dunes:
    • Starting food multiplied by 10.
    • "Wander" now gets you at least 4 times as many people as before.
    • "Camp" changed to "Breed". Also, now you only breed your tribe when you select "Breed", instead of every turn.
    • New stat: Tranquility. Formerly known as 'turns omens calmed for'.
    • People eat less food when they are tranquil.
    • Reformatted main screen for clarity and readability.
    • Reset the high scores.
    • Birth rates are more affected by the omens than they used to be.
    • Death rates lowered, and lowered the amount they increase when your people are hungry.
    • Junk and food finding are doubled by some omens now, and halved by others.
    • City Stress decreases if your cities revert to villages, increases more than it used to if you get food or people from your civilization at times, is modified by the omens more, and not reduced by nothing bad happening on a turn.

    • Reformatted the main screen to be clearer and easier to read, by lining columns up, adding whitespace and re-arranging the items text.
    • Now, the Hermit tells you when you have completed the last quest.

    • Encounters:
      • New: asteroids, ion cloud, wandering tribe, wrecked ship, benevolent monks, city guards, planetary patrol, galactic patrol, bandit gang.
      • Removed: magistrate, propaganda master, galactic spaceways.
      • Pirates modified to be more like new space encounters.
      • You now automatically defeat hostile encounters that are too easy for you.

    • When you can't feed your followers in space, they depart in escape pods, and cause confusion as they go, which causes you to use more turns.
